Meridian Massage Treatment Approaches

Explore Meridian Massage's treatment methods below. Therapeutic massage serves as the foundation for every treatment, providing a customized session tailored entirely to your body's specific needs. Within this approach, modalities such as myofascial release, deep tissue, hot stone, and relaxation massage may be incorporated. These integrated treatments are provided to clients across Cooranbong, Dora Creek, Morisset, and the greater Lake Macquarie region.

Therapeutic Massage

A results-focused treatment equivalent to remedial massage, designed to address specific injuries, chronic pain, and physical dysfunction. Utilizing structural assessment and corrective techniques, this targeted service mobilizes soft tissue—including muscles, tendons, and ligaments—to restore mobility, ease deep muscle tension, and improve overall physical function.

Myofascial Release

A targeted treatment that focuses on the fascia—the continuous network of connective tissue surrounding everything in your body; skin, muscles, ligaments, bones, and organs. This technique utilizes slow, sustained, static pressure without oils or lotions to safely grip, soften, and release restricted tissue. It is designed to ease deep structural restrictions, resolve chronic tension patterns, and restore natural alignment and movement to the body.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage addresses chronic tension and tightness located within the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. While the perception of depth and pressure is highly subjective to each individual, this technique utilizes firm, deliberate pressure to reach below the superficial layers. It incorporates trigger point release to ease rigid muscle knots, working through localized points of discomfort, restore comfortable mobility, and improve overall physical function.

Hot Stone Massage

A treatment that incorporates smooth, heated stones to deliver deeply penetrating warmth to the muscles and fascia. The localized heat dilates blood vessels to significantly boost circulation, soften rigid tissue layers, and calm the nervous system. This direct thermal therapy helps prepare the body to receive deeper tissue techniques more comfortably, while simultaneously providing a deeply soothing experience that enhances full-body relaxation.

Relaxation Massage

A treatment designed to calm the nervous system, reduce physical stress, and ease full-body tension. Utilizing smooth, rhythmic pressure across the superficial muscle layers, this technique promotes systemic relaxation, boosts local circulation, and lowers heart rate. It provides a soothing, restorative experience focused entirely on quietening the mind and renewing an overall sense of physical well-being.

About Me

Welcome to Meridian Massage, I’m Jamie. I am a dedicated massage therapist focused on helping you restore structural balance, ease deep muscle tension, and recover from physical discomfort.

My approach to massage is grounded in nine years of professional clinical experience, drawing directly from my background as a former Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in British Columbia, Canada. British Columbia maintains some of the most intensive training credentials and rigorous regulatory standards for massage therapy in the world. I completed my Diploma in Registered Massage Therapy at Vancouver Career College in 2016 and passed the comprehensive board exams required to be registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC).

Prior to moving to New South Wales and establishing my practice in Cooranbong, I spent nine years practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist in my hometown of Kelowna, British Columbia. During this time, I spent four years working alongside kinesiologists and other RMTs at Kelowna Medical Massage, followed by five years at The Core Centre of Health, an integrated clinic collaborating with chiropractors, physiotherapists, and acupuncturists.

This extensive background in multi-disciplinary settings shapes how I treat the body today. By looking at the body as an interconnected system, I combine functional assessment with targeted techniques to create a customized treatment tailored entirely to your needs on the day.

In addition to my clinical training, I have completed continuing education in myofascial release, hot stone massage, and craniosacral therapy. These modalities bring a more subtle, responsive dynamic to my practice. My approach respects the body’s natural physiology and innate capacity to restore balance; my role is to provide the precise physical support your system needs to facilitate its own recovery.

Trading the BC mountains for my new home here in New South Wales has been an incredible journey. As I plant roots in this wonderful region, I am proud to bring this standard of dedicated care to Cooranbong, Dora Creek, Morisset, and the greater Lake Macquarie region.

FAQ's & Regulatory Notices

In New South Wales, the entire massage therapy industry is classified as an unregulated profession. In accordance with state health guidelines, Meridian Massage operates under this structure as a non-registered health service. I am fully committed to providing a safe, ethical, and exceptionally high standard of clinical care, and you can find all mandatory regulatory notices and practice details below.

As a practitioner in NSW, I am legally required to make the official state code of conduct and complaint mechanisms easily accessible to all clients on this website and displayed clearly within my clinic room.

You can view and download the official documentation below:

In New South Wales, the entire massage therapy industry is classified as an unregulated profession.

This simply means that unlike doctors, physiotherapists, or chiropractors, massage therapists are not registered or overseen by a national government board like AHPRA (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

Instead, all practitioners are legally bound by a strict state Code of Conduct to ensure public safety.

If the industry is unregulated, how do some clinics offer private health insurance rebates?

Private health insurance billing is entirely separate from government health regulation.

Because there is no official government registration for massage in Australia, private health funds created their own independent system. They allow local practitioners who join voluntary commercial associations and hold specific Australian diplomas to issue rebate receipts.

No, my treatments are not currently eligible for private health rebates.

Because I hold a Canadian Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) qualification rather than an Australian diploma, I operate independently outside of the local health fund billing system. While this may change in the future if I choose to submit my overseas credentials to local associations for review, my practice currently remains completely independent.

Comfortable, stretchy clothing like athletic wear is ideal. This ensures we can easily complete a physical evaluation if your condition requires it. Wearing flexible clothing also makes it much easier to run through any customized home care stretches or exercises together at the end of your session.

For the hands-on massage portion of your treatment, you will be professionally draped with sheets and a blanket to ensure your complete privacy, warmth, and comfort at all times.
